We Strengthen Communities by Providing Healing Centered, Trauma-Informed Care
Brothers Building A Better Nation (BBABN) is a Newark-based nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening families and communities by centering the healing, growth, and leadership of individuals who were born male or identify as male.
We define brotherhood as social infrastructure, the essential connection that builds resilience, accountability, and healthy relationships. Through Healing-Centered Engagement, Culturally Responsive Practice, and Trauma-Informed Care, we provide integrated supports that help participants thrive.

Founded in the historic Lower Broadway neighborhood on September 10, 2020, BBABN’s mission began in this vibrant and culturally rich community.
Mission
Brothers Building A Better Nation (BBABN) empowers individuals who were born male or identify as male to embrace healing, cultivate self-expression, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood as a foundation for thriving families and communities. Through integrated supports in mental health, mentorship, health education, advocacy, and wraparound services, we equip individuals to heal, grow, and lead.
Vision
BBABN envisions a future where brotherhood is recognized as a cornerstone of community well-being. By normalizing healing, self-expression, and emotional intelligence among individuals who were born male or identify as male, we cultivate communities where strengths are celebrated, purpose is nurtured, and opportunity is accessible.

Built by the Community, for the Community
The 7th Avenue Community Center, located at 151 7th Avenue in Newark’s Lower Broadway neighborhood, was born from the collective vision of residents who wanted a safe space to heal, connect, and organize. Brothers Building A Better Nation heard that call and took action, securing a 15-year lease with Dwight Cap LLC for one of the storefronts in Dwight Plaza to bring that vision to life. .
Set to open in spring 2026, the 7th Avenue Community Center will serve as a hub for therapy, empowerment, and growth, created by the people, for the people.
